The North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) is a non-profit international regulatory authority with a goal to test the reliability of the North American bulk power system. NERC creates and carries out Reliability Standards, reviews seasonal/long-term reliability, and keeps an eye on the bulk power system with system awareness. NERc also operates the Electricity Information Sharing and Analysis Center (E-ISAC), which offers security services for bulk power system operators and managers throughout North America. These services include cyber and physical security threat protection and physical security measures. The North American Electric Reliability Corporation is heartquarted in Atlanta, Georgia, providing reliable service and protection continent wide especially since the Energy Policy Act of 2005 called for an increased emphasis on standardization of protection measures.
